The victim received a voicemail claiming to be from AT&T/Direct TV regarding a promotional pricing offer . After calling the provided number, she was convinced that she needed to pay for a new rate using prepaid gift cards . The victim purchased $500 in gift cards from a grocery store and provided the PINs to the scammer, followed by another $500 in cards after being told there was a “problem” with the first batch . A third attempt to purchase cards was blocked by a fraud protection feature on her credit card . Solon detectives are currently investigating the $1,000 fraud case . OVI Arrest Involves Loaded Magazine and Alcohol Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on March 27, police stopped a red Ford Fusion on SOM Center Road for an obstructed license plate . The officer noted the 24-year-old driver from Chagrin Falls had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol . The driver admitted to consuming two beers prior to the stop and subsequently failed field sobriety tests . A search of the vehicle revealed empty beer bottles and an unloaded semi-automatic pistol in a case in the backseat, alongside a loaded magazine for the weapon .
